Real Motivation…Not Your Usual Watered Down…Hype

I started this post by doing something that makes no sense to this blog really…by…offering you my opinions on rims for your…“Ride”…as they say.

You may have noticed that my last couple of posts have deviated away from the usual genres of subject matter.

Naturally half way through this topic…I just flipped it and went off on a tangent about motivation…drawing similarities from my own personal experiences. (Won’t make any sense for the time being)

You see…personally…when it comes to the whole “Inspiration” and positive self worth advice…I’m sick of the vast majority of it being so conventional…so watered down…so…hall mark…greetings card world…these days.

It’s either all too huggy…kissy…holdy handy…wrappy each other up in our blankets…too much of the same regurgitation…false…or…just hyped up words…in my personal opinion.

Nothing of substance for the real world in most cases.

Please don’t get me wrong…there are many channels and entities that do offer true beneficial help and guidance…offer realism…and they have my respect to the fullest…but…they aren’t the prevalent consistency…generally marketed and promoted to society.

To me…the majority of motivational speakers/spreaders/bloggers/coaches blah blah etc etc…are really…just great great salesmen/women…who know how to captivate…who know how to sell.

On the whole…in most instances…it’s a business and an industry…in some way firstly…before anything else.

Profit…vs…loss…strategy.

You’re at a disadvantage if you don’t see that from the get go…but…you are at even more so…if you do not understand how the nervous system functions.

The people providing the services or outlets do understand…and…even if they don’t…somewhere along the line…somebody who does…has instilled a particular dimension of persuasion or manipulation…with the sole aim of turnover.

It’s kind of like how Facebook took over the world…through proven science.

99% of motivation…the average person today is coming into contact with…after seeking solace and needing drive from it…to me in my mind…is no more than neurological trickery.

It’s not real…not true…not really designed to change or affect anything…but designed to keep you in a cycle…while giving you a bump…giving you a hit…a high…that you always have to come down from.

A paper over the cracks…that keeps people in a loop of buying…and…or…buying into…but more importantly…selling themselves short.

A warm feeling…that turns cold…creating a need to reheat.

You know it works…you’ve felt it works…so you keep searching…nobody can tell you any differently.

We’ve all been there before.

Their design is to bring you back…after every hit…because real change creates affirmative action…not subscription or affirmation.

The galvanising speeches and fuzzy feelings are all well and good…but to motivate ourselves couldn’t be less glamorous if we tried.

It’s not found in extravagance…it dwells within the mundane…boring…insignificant…small things…that seem that they don’t even matter in our day.

Within their actions.

They can’t be found anywhere else.

So how does this all relate to rims for your ride?

Well..I thought I’d throw my tuppence in again…by using a real world example of my own.

One that is broken down into 2 rationales I suppose?

One that could be construed as vain…conventional…or suckered…within itself…if misinterpreted from the outside looking in.

Hear me out?

This is…I guess…motor vehicle motivation…from…somebody who knows nothing about motor vehicles my friends.

When it comes to cars…I believe that it’s the wheels that make them…personally.

Cars within themselves are a constant dualism to me.

Should I love them…should I hate them?

In one sense a plague of humanity…on the other…an awe inspiring journey of science…engineering…design…and locomotion.

I’ve always liked the idea of nice wheels…for me…and whether wrong or right…there is just something about them…that…stirs me.

I dig them…I’m into them…what can I say.

It isn’t about outright aesthetics to me…at all…as…away from a love of the design and functionality…I use my car as true unadulterated “Me time”…away from the world.

To keep body paintwork and big rims pristine…it takes a lot of effort…dedication and concentration.

Can take a good few hours if you factor the interior in.

It’s a ball ache…depending on how you choose to look at it.

This allows me to truly unwind though…to be in complete silence…doing something nobody else wants to be a part of…nobody else wants to come and get involved in…on my own…outside..with the birds singing their songs.

No phone…no email…no radio…no music…no anything…just…silence…focus.

It’s not often we can say that as individuals.

We live in the day and age of complete and absolute information over load.

Attacked with constant barrages…bombarding us like massed artillery fire…24/7…366 day’s a year…including those that leap.

There is no rest…there are no gaps…no pauses…nor breaks…it just keeps on going and going…controlled and orchestrated by such a vast…vassst array of different channels…outlets and media.

I don’t even think it could be quantifiable.

This…is just…one of my escapes.

It’s cathartic to me…therapeutic…it’s…soothing within itself…especially when it doesn’t even need to be done…which I will get to further down.

The task is at hand…the path is clear…the route is set…all I have to do…is just switch off my brain to every single thing in the world…apart from that car…and making it look like a mirror!

Fluid…calm…relaxing…mobile…aligned movement…caressing the curves of design…attention to detail.

I say touch it like you were touching your woman(😂)

The time for yourself is where the real motivation starts.

Every single day is an amazing one to be alive…the beautiful chaos of existence…and we should always try our best to appreciate those around us…BUT… the body and mind are so intricate…so complex…and adaptable…that…to put it in the most simplistic of ways…one of the most important things in a persons life…should always be…without a shadow of a doubt…that…you time…switched off…away from everything…but yourself.

Lights are on but nobodies home…zoned out…with whatever it is you do…whatever it is that you love.

The moment away from being a boss…an employee…a mother…a father…a friend…etc etc.

This is where the true relevance lies to me…as you aren’t going to motivate yourself…in any way shape or form…without spending time within your own mind…away from influence…with who you are…away from the pace of the world.

To love somebody else…is to love yourself first.

We need unplugging every now and again…and note how my unplugging is still a strenuous act.

Shows how important the neurological element is in the equation of human physiology and exertion.

We are quickly taught to look for motivation…from the wrong people and wrong sources…quite consistently.

Look to yourself I always say.

Find how to align it within your own life…your own way…within you…nobody else.

Can’t tell you how…only you know that.

It’s that you time…that inevitably leads to the thought process…that gives birth to the delicacy of change.

That’s how we end up being able to swap the words and warm fuzzy feelings that give us the temporary fixes…for the action that gives us the actual resiliency to keep pressing.

Thoughtful man

Not only do I use doing the car as my relaxation time and my escape…I use it to set a precedence…True 1%.

I use it amongst other things to get and keep my brain in the zone of going further.

It’s a mindset that needs to be maintained and progressed…you can’t let it slip if you don’t want the results to follow suit…and it has to be of our own accord.

Many times it’s a work in process until it become almost a subconscious act.

Let’s take the last 3 months for example.

It has been ROASTING here in England.

I’ve genuinely…never felt it this hot in Manchester before in my 31/about to be 32 years of life.

It is true keep your car clean weather.

Now…I’m not just saying this next bit…to say it…I’m not saying it…out of care…or importance…or arrogance.

I’m saying it because it didn’t happen by chance…wasn’t an accident…wasn’t luck…or good fortune…it was all premeditated and calculated to the nth degree.

Out of thousands of cars I’ve seen or been next to during this 3 month heatwave…there was only one that could have said they came close to shining or glaring to the level mine has.

I took it to the extreme of almost making a bloke walk into a lamp post from being so mesmerised by the glare finish one time I was waxing it on the road…true story.

There is complete method to my madness though…and it has nothing to do with appearance…arrogance…or others opinions.

When I look at that car…those wheels…and that interior…I ask myself 2 things…and this is why many people find me difficult…as…I ask these 2 things in all my most personal…passionate endeavors/goals within life.

1. Realistically…logically…what is the level the average person is going to want to take it…before…it’s time to quit…before they’ve done enough…before the jobs good enough…and anything further is just deemed as being or going…over the top.

I take my personal perception of the above…then take my actions to the point I perceive or feel to be at that stage.

From there a step back is always taken…a moment…and…then I ask myself the second one.

2. What level are the ones that are going over the top…going to reach their point?

I try to then further that point through learning and experience…from the attained end result…from comparison and contrast…of actions…which is why I can say I outshone…literally.

It’s absolutely nothing to do with cars or wheels.

I’ve found an outlet that allows me to push further…allows me tangible comparison…provides positive betterment…that requires no excessive mental stimulation…that can be done in my spare time…in silence…for me…away from the pace of humanity.

It keeps the mindset of evolution alive…and engulfs it’s flames on to other areas of my life.

So…let’s take a Sunday…doesn’t matter which day really.

I don’t really want to go out there and spend 3/4 hours doing a flipping car…be much easier to give it a quick wash and be done with it!?

I don’t have much down time at the moment…and there are so many other things I could be doing…but…I’ll go out there and do it…while trying to attain a level of effort within it…that supersedes the results of the majority…because…when I wake up on the Monday…and it’s time to go and do the things actually needed to be done for my week…it’s hard not to take that mindset with me.

Starts rubbing off in all areas of life…and in the end…something so small…so insignificant…starts to make it very difficult to not put the maximum effort into other acts…and vice versa.

You can’t just wake up and want to go further…well you can…but actually doing it…is a different matter altogether.

We have to do things that make it snowball into actuality.

You may have to wait years for the avalanche…it may all seem a waste of good free time…but once it all starts to move…together…there is no stopping it.

That’s true motivation…you gotta slog your absolute guts out…when you don’t want to slog your guts out…not many people will really care too much…and you won’t get too many thanks for it.

That’s true motivation….you just….start to fall in love with the grind.

Maybe I’ll achieve that level in the car…maybe I’ll achieve that level in my work…my relationships…my life…my…self.

Maybe…I won’t.

Doesn’t matter…because regardless…I know…I walk away after giving it all…giving it every single thing I could…to the best of my ability…because…I’ve trained my mind to function that way…and there’s no more needed than that.

I’m still no more than a flawed human at the end of the day.

It’s not cliche if you are really doing it…putting it in…not looking for motivation…but making it…and instilling it yourself…your own way…whatever works for you.

Small things like this keep me on the journey to consistently putting effort in to prospering and growing.

They will do the same if you find yours.

I suppose there actually is a 3rd dimension to why I do it…as…in the long run I’ll get more for the car when I sell it in the end…than exactly the same model and year that has not been looked after to this extent…so why not?

Going further can be a bind…but the end result is always betterment or benefit…in some way.

So…what have I learnt about cars and rims…and how can they be even further diversified into motivation??

I realised on my last car…that the fancier the wheel…the more you are destined for heart ache and pain…this time…I’ve realised it’s just not worth it.

A fancy rim to a man…is like a wife addicted to infidelity.

The wheels on my last one…made what should have been a great driving experience…an anxiety ridden trip down pot hole and tarmac hell.

In my naivety I had probably one of the lowest…low profile tyres…you can get…and if you don’t know what I mean by that…well…the rim lip was exposed beyond the tyre wall…on run flat tyres…with stiffened lowered suspension!?

Every time I drove anywhere it sounded like the wheel was about to snap in half…any divot…any camber.

Go over a pot hole…and WOW…it sounded like somebody was hitting your rim with a thundergod hammer.

Reversing off my drive could scratch them…and we all know our drives aren’t high kerbs!

I’d have to be so careful it was unreal.

The end result was why I grew tired of the vehicle…constantly cracked rims…in need of welding or replacing…constant tyre punctures…tyre air pressure issues…expensive tyres…dings…warning lights.

Would be lucky to go three months without having some form of wheel related issue…they just weren’t functional for the British roads…so…take notice of that warning if you are thinking about them yourself.

After that experience…I said to myself…never again…never again…until…I did it…again…but with a little more experience this time.

Made sure that they were nothing like the previous ones…on the previous vehicle…made sure they were robust enough and came with a more robust logical tyre.

Did all my research and have been driving the car 3 or so months and definitely made the right choice in theory…but…did I…really?

While the effort I put in is beneficial to my life…there is no point in overly loving the wheels…which ultimately you end up doing after all of the above.

I’ve driven this one like an old boy….like a retired 75 year old with leather driving gloves on.

Last week I went to get my tyre changed as I’d picked up a ridiculous puncture that could not be repaired.

In the process of taking the tyre off the rim…the rim has been scratched and chipped over an area.

At the time…this…to me…the only comparison I could draw would be to imagine it being similar to a parent seeing their child with a chunk missing from their leg?

The machine that’s design to help it can even hurt them.

The basis of probability and mathematics dictate…no matter how hard you try…those rims are still getting scratched.

It’s beautifully poetic really.

Perfection doesn’t exist…you just got to smile and nod sometimes…and…realise that the pride was in at least having a go at attempting it in the first place….playing the game.

Nothing else matters if you had fun and persevered through the shit!
